The RED EPIC provides a 5K digital cinema solution for any level of production from commercials to feature films. The color and finishing options provided to you with the EPIC offers a great array of options for the look and feel of your final project. The EPIC Camera comes with the PL lens mount offering the use of many high end 35mm Cine Lenses as well as Nikon F mount amd Canon mount lenses.

Cinemanix Productions owns Two EPIC cameras (and 2 RED ONE MX as well), each with a similar configuration. Having worked with the RED Cameras and the RED workflow since the first cameras have shipped, we can provide the best solution for your RED production needs.

The EPIC camera also has the ability to shoot up to 120 frames per seconds  in 5K allowing you too achieve very dramatic and creative scenes and with up to 300 frames per seconds in 2K mode. (see high speed samples here)

The EPIC has many benefits over other cameras. Firts is its extremely high resoltuion; it can shoot up to 5K resolution. This means you will start your project with a very high image quality and thus end up with much better final results as you downconvert to High Definition, Standard Definition or web video.

As you can see from the above picture if you were to put the 5K image into a standard def video you would only be able to fit one eye of our model!

RED also record 12&16bit RAW images. This leads to images with high amount of useful and critical data. RAW images are full of color and brightness information that is accessible in post, think of them as a Digital Negative. This is very useful as it allows us to freely manipulate the images and give you the look and feel that you are looking for.
Bellow is a simple example of a color grading process with RAW footage from RED. The client was looking for a nice sunny late afternoon look for that scene. Unfortunately the weather was not cooperating that day and it was mainly cloudy and overcast. But due to the ability to shoot RAW and the high latituted that RED offers, we were able to easily modify the image and achieve the final desired look without degrading the image.

 Another benefit of recording high quality RAW is the ability to get very clean green/blue screen edges without the "staircasing" or blur edges look thanks to the higher resolution and color information. See below for examples.
